| 8/21/2006 - 8/25-2006: The terrain of Montana is much more varied and rugged than I had expected. There were sections of hot praries and passages through cool forests. There were lakes and there was wind. I got a good daily share of headwinds, but there was nothing consistent and strong enough to really demoralize me. I continue to make good progress but spiritually I was reaching a bottom. The prospect of arriving in the Yellow Stone area to meet the labor day weekend traffic, and the prospect of biking Wyoming with its hills and winds did not particularly excite me. I feel confident that I can handle the upcoming physical challenges, but I am also beginning to strongly doubt whether this trip is really "what I am looking for." I would soon decide to cut my trip short, stopping in Missoula. |
